Description
This sale includes two rolls ( 1-A-wind &1-B-wind) of 35mm white perforation repair tape, new old stock carefully stored in sealed bags (the adhesive is still just fine).Specially made for repairing the perforations on 35mm film without having to loose the film frame.
Best applied to both sides if perforations are badly damaged.
Why white? It makes for easy periodic inspection and yet doesn't enter the viewed frame under normal projection methods.
Success of a repair requires careful application and a copy of factory recommended tips can be shared in pdf form at no charge if you request it.
Splicing block shown not included but if you have one, it helps make the application easier.
What's the difference between A&B wind? The difference is subtle, if you look closely the
repair tape
is not symmetric with respect to the sprocket hole and the edge of the tape. (see attached image) This matters when being applied, you want to use the larger of the two towards the outer edge of the film to avoid obstruction of the film frame. The choice is especially important if you are applying it with a machine such as "Per-fix or Cinecare" which require a specific wind because of their design (check your booklet). When applying it by hand it doesn't really mater which is ordered A or B wind since the film can be oriented base up or base down and optical track close or facing away during the application. It also can be applied left to right or right to left
using
a steady hand and just a single-edge razor blade.
