    Description

Pair of Medium 16mm/35mm Rewinds with Flip-Over reel keeper ends
These are Medium-Sized Neumade 8 Inch tall Cast Iron 16mm Film Rewinds.  One rewind has the square section next to the rewind that only fits 16mm reels.  They will handle 16 inch 1600 foot reels - about 45 minutes of film.
For viewing film, the full reel is on the feed (left) rewind with the film going under - sprockets away from you.  For rewinding, the full reel starts on the Left rewind with the film going over the top, and your gloved Left hand holding the film against the back edge of the take up reel for an even - somewhat tight wind.  This way you are always using your strongest arm to do the work.  If your wind is loose - the film can "cinch" and scratch.
I'm an Editor - so these are complete and ready to work.  I
oiled the bearings & greased the gears. These are in good working condition and good Cosmetic Condition.  But one has been repaired.  The case unscrews into 2 halves.  On one half, the foot broke off. I used some special steel epoxy to repair it.  See the photos.  The epoxy worked well.
TIP:  Film reels should always be stored vertically - never horizontally as the weight of a stack of reels can break off edges of film that are sticking out.   In fact - you never want to stack reels of film horizontally - so buy a film rack for Vertical Storage - or build one out of 2x2" wood rails held about 6 inches apart.
TIP:  If you run across Vinegar Syndrome, there is a solvent that fixes it.  Discontinued for decades, VITAFILM will fix Vinegar Syndrome with a standard cleaning.  Tough cases you might have to put the reel of film in the large side of a film can, and soak the film.  Remember that you are not dealing with the emulsion - this is a problem with the film base.  The stuff works very well - available from a few eBay vendors.
I ship these in a USPS Priority Large Flat rate box.
